Position: Matlab Application Support/Developer
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 6+ months
Required start date: ASAP
Description
The primary focus of this assignment is to provide application support, development and analysis capabilities for Matlab applications to allow the progress of the 2012 Market Risk systems agenda. He/she will be working closely with Support Lead, Technical Specialist, Business Analyst, Architect and Project manager to produce delivery artefacts and system support.
Responsibilities
• Support and Maintain Matlab applications
• Implement best practice solutions to enhance maintainability
• Maintain system documents up to date and in line with the code artefacts
• Maintain support documents
• Producing code based deliverables primarily in Matlab
• Providing best practice support in the use of Matlab in regard to the project
• Working with Business analyst, Technical group to understand and challenge requirements
• Facilitating an understanding of functionalities and requirements in the wider delivery team
• Produce artefacts for testing
• Test applications
• Produce deployment artefacts

• Matlab code artefacts
• Functional, Technical documentation
• System Appreciation, Code Optimizations
• Test approach and test case documentation
• Testing
• Deployment artefacts
• Presentations to explain current and proposed functionalities
Experience & Knowledge
Demonstrable track record of systematic & methodical approach to development and support with a detailed understanding and practical application in providing dev/test support (2 years): Essential
Technical Skills:
• Matlab 3+ development (preferably with mathematical content) – 2 years minimum: Essential
• Knowledge of Matlab tool boxes listed below
o MATLAB: : Essential
o MATLAB Compiler : Essential
o Statistics Toolbox: Essential
o MATLAB Excel builder : Preferred
o Database Toolbox: Preferred
o MATLAB Builder JA : Desirable
o MATLAB Builder NE : Desirable
o Parallel Computing Toolbox : Desirable
• UI design, implementation using Matlab: Essential
• Performance tuning and optimization in Matlab: Essential
• Trouble shooting and deployment of Matlab applications: Essential
• MS Excel VBA : Essential
• Experience of handling high-data volumes: Preferred
• RDBMS skills SQL Server/Oracle Databases (query level): Preferred
• SQL Server and/or Oracle Databases, and ODBC connections: Preferred
• Mathematical modelling and model implementation: Desirable
• Distributed Computing: Desirable
• High degree of interfacing and integration with other systems: Preferred
• .NET/ASP: Preferred
• Java : Desirable
Process & Tools:
• Best practices in software development using Matlab: Essential
